It is a construction from the times of the Roman Emperor Trajan (114-119 AD), which was part of the Via Nova. Its original structure is almost intact. Like the Roman breakwaters or the granite ashlars without joints or wedges, which have survived to this day. Despite its longevity, it still provides service on the OU-636 road that connects Larouco with A Pobra de Trives and is crossed daily by thousands of vehicles, many of them heavy-duty. It is a bridge with three arches that stands out for the simplicity of its lines and for its pillars perfectly perpendicular to the roadway. It measures 75 meters long and 6.5 meters wide. At its highest point, at the height of the central arch, it is 22.5 meters from the riverbed. It has been a National Historic-Artistic Monument since 1931.
