Nature Tourism – Pedestrian routes
The presence of the Douro, Ferreira and Sousa rivers, combined with the mountains and the wide biodiversity, the cultural authenticity, and the rurality that lingers in some parishes of the municipality make this territory a suitable destination for the practice of activities linked to nature, in a sustainable and responsible way.
Venture along distinctly rural paths and discover, along the trails, agricultural structures such as mills, on the banks of the Sousa River, or granaries, throughout the parishes.
The offer is vast: you can choose between five pedestrian routes, duly signposted, allowing you to discover green areas such as Monte Crasto, the highest point in the city – providing a magnificent panoramic view over the neighboring municipalities – and several walkways. Starting in Gondomar’s urban center, one can follow Ribeira da Archeira Route’s until reaching the Douro River; here starts the Polis de Gramido Route, always hand-in-hand with the river, from Gramido to Ribeira de Abade. Along the way, encounter, and enjoy, several establishments and restaurants.
To check the pedestrian routes, among other useful information visit the website dedicated to Parque das Serras do Porto.
Before departing, collect your free passport at the Gondomar Tourist Office.
