The barnacle is one of the star products of the gastronomy of the town of Aguiño. Its importance is such that every year at the end of July, a tribute is paid to its excellent quality. The chosen venue for the celebration is the port of Aguiño, the landing place of the freshly caught crustacean. The tasting of the barnacle, accompanied by other Galician delicacies, is the main dish of this gastronomic and recreational event. Simultaneously, diners can enjoy a display of Galician folklore with performances by traditional music groups among other activities, such as the declaration of the honorary Barnacle Gatherers of the year.
