From June 21 to 24, 2024, the celebrations this year will focus on “Os Alicerces do Reino” (The Foundations of the Kingdom).

Following in the wake of Portugal’s UM Day celebrations, the Guimarães City Council intends to give continuity in 2024 to the 12th edition of the “Afonsina Fair” event, offering all visitors an unforgettable time travel experience through the construction of themed spaces that will characterize the four days of the event.

Guimarães travels back in time and promises to transport the people of Guimarães and visitors to the time of the first kings of Portugal. With an intense preparation in terms of the accuracy of the events that took place in the foundation of Portugal.

One of the great novelties this year is the arrival of the Afonsina Fair in the Couros Zone, thus involving the new area classified by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.
