The first weekend of August is the return of the festivities of San Cristóbal, in Carballo. The Carballo neighborhood hosts open-air dances, vermouth session, orchestras, mobile disco and the traditional procession of decorated vehicles on Sunday 4. Vehicles on wheels of all kinds invade the streets of Carballo on Sunday. Decorated with flowers, with plants and with stamps, they join the procession of San Cristobal that every year animates the festivities of the neighborhood and that is felt throughout the town. Although everyone looks forward to the procession on Sunday, the celebrations in honor of the patron saint of travelers and drivers begin on Saturday. The first day’s program includes reveille and dawn with bombs of palenque from early morning; solemn mass in honor of Our Lady of Lourdes and Buen Viaje; and then vermouth session with orchestra. In the evening, the verbena.
On Sunday, right after mass, it will be time for the procession, which can be joined by any vehicle on wheels. Very colorful and also very noisy and cheerful, the entourage goes through the streets of Carballo in a tour with departure and arrival in the neighborhood. And in this second day of celebration, the vermouth session and for the night, again verbena.
