The celebration of municipal fairs has always had a strong tradition in Minho. The day of the calendar is marked by the fortnight. The people who lived in the villages soon became accustomed to go to the fairs, either to sell their products or to stock up on products for themselves, their family, their home or their work. . Farmers, dressmakers, housewives and market traders have become accustomed to living together in this space, which has been used for centuries.

As time went by, the offer of products for sale at the fairs increased, which forced the promoters of these events to enlarge the venues, providing them with more attractive planning, circulation and access conditions, as was the case in Esposende.

Currently, the Esposende fortnightly fair is located to the east of the urban center of the city, next to the barracks of the Territorial Post of Esposende of the National Republican Guard and the Central Bus Station of Esposende, 200 m from the intersection of the E.N.13 with the Mouchinho street .

This space is organized by sectors, with more than 100 terrace spaces for non-sedentary trade. The fair is held on Mondays, every two weeks and has a free public parking. Inside the Bus Station there is a food and beverage establishment and public toilets in the immediate vicinity of the place, which serve as support for traders and consumers.
