In the traffic circle of access to the industrial estate of Bértoa is this work of 2007, designed by the well-known sculptor and engraver Manuel Facal, of international fame. Its dimensions and its color stand out, on clear days, against the blue horizon. It is 13.50 meters high and weighs 3,200 kilos. It is a huge red fish, with a steel tail and made almost entirely of scrap metal.

Facal’s creation represents a scallop, an elongated freshwater fish that lives in the water of the river that crosses us, the Anllóns. The author donated his work to the city council of Carballo, which paid for the material and labor needed to build it. The sculpture, like the rest of the works that Facal has in Carballo, was made in workshops in our town. It belongs to the same series as the work “O peixe”, located in the traffic circle at the entrance to the shopping center.
