Baldaio is beach, lake and marsh. An area in which to breathe deeply and to lodge, in contact with nature. It is, in fact, one of the most important wetlands of Galicia and an area of special environmental protection.
The sea enters the land and mixes with the fresh water coming from the rivers of the area. This creates a space, the marsh, much more fertile than any farmland.
The dune bar, which joins Baldaio to Razo, extends for three kilometers. The carballeses like to complete a day at the beach walking on foot, with the waves caressing their feet, this extensive area of sand. Ancient as the most precious of our monuments, some of these dunes are already fossilized.
The borders between the marsh and the lake are a privileged place to observe the great variety of birds that have in Baldaio their daily habitat or resting place or destination in their migratory journey.
At the entrance of the lake was built an ornithological observation point, where you can observe, without being aware of your presence, the daily life of these birds, in peaceful coexistence with the work of the shellfish gatherers. You also have the option of joining the ornithological tours that are organized in the area.
