This eclectic-style building is located on the central Rego de Auga street and has almost two centuries of history, as it was inaugurated in 1841 under the name of Teatro Novo or Principal. However, in 1867 it suffered a major fire that required it to be rebuilt in 1868. Since 1909, it has been known by its current name, Rosalía de Castro Theater, and has hosted important events related to the history of Galicia during the 20th century. It has a capacity for more than 600 people and can host various artistic performances of music, dance, or theater. The Rosalía de Castro Theater and Picasso Picasso attended theatrical performances of Echegaray’s works at what is now called the Rosalía de Castro Theater, then known as Teatro Principal.
