The Viana do Castelo Theater Festival, which has the mission of contributing to the qualification of the cultural experience of audiences and artists of contemporary theater in the territory of Alto Minho, is organized by Teatro do Noroeste – Viana Dramatic Center with the support of Viana do Castelo City Council.

Since its first edition, in 2017, the Viana do Castelo Theater Festival has included eclecticism, accessibility, sustainability.

Eclecticism in the selection of shows for a wide range of audiences.

Accessibility to all program initiatives for people and/or artists with specific characteristics. One of its focuses is actually audience accessibility, as this is the only theater festival in the country in which all shows have accessibility resources, whether post-show conversations, simultaneous translation into Portuguese sign language, stage recognition, audio description or subtitling.

Sustainability in updating artistic production practices, in particular, in accordance with the Green Book on Theatres, published by the European Theater Convention.
