Located in the heart of the city, it was around this beautiful church of medieval origin that the founding core of the urban centre of Fafe developed.
It is a very old and important temple, having been the main church that always served the parish of Santa Eulália Antiga, administrative centre of the disappeared Terra de Monte Longo, territory from which the current municipality of Fafe was formed.
Its current design is from the 18th century, when it received the bell towers and underwent a major extension and reconstruction. However, some remains of the primitive temple remain, including two excessively worked tomb portals, characteristic of the medieval period.
Inside, the beautiful main and side altarpieces captivate the visitor, thus fulfilling their function: creating a visual and emotional impact on believers.
These altars find their influences in the Rococo and Baroque styles, respectively.
