The Municipal Archive is located in a building that resulted from the restoration and extension of the João Alves de Freitas Palace, from the beginning of the 20th century, a living testimony of the architecture of the “Brazilians”. The combination of the rich collection of the City Hall, with funds from city councils, associations, individuals or companies, makes the Municipal Archive services a unique place as a repository of the historical memory of Fafe, spanning the 19th and 21st centuries.

The Municipal Archive is open to the general public, guaranteeing the consultation of documents, without prejudice to the restrictions imposed by law and safeguarding the limitations derived from the imperatives of conservation of the articles.
