Located on Rua de Recovelas, in Ribeiros, the Lagar de Azeite is an extraordinary example of rural architecture and a living element of the most significant ethnography of the rural traditions of Fafe. The Lagar, with two arms, integrates two different spaces: the choir, which was used to store olives, and a larger room used for the production of olive oil. In this room there are two (recovered) mechanisms, one for crushing and the other for pressing the olive oil must.
The building, now transformed into an interpretation centre, is a museum and is open to the public. The visit experience guarantees a living contact with memory and traditional knowledge, as well as an exciting journey through time in a paradise-like place.
