This is the oldest bridge in Monforte. The current construction dates back to the 16th century, but it is known that there was already a passage over the river at this point in the 13th century. The bridge consists of six semicircular arches, of which only four are visible today, as the other two were buried after several renovations in the area.

There is documentation that tells us that it was a pious work (one of the few in Galicia), that is, a place through which pilgrimage routes or trade routes passed. This bridge meets both conditions, since, in addition to being an important entry point for goods, one of the alternative routes of the Camino, the Camino de Inverno, passes through here.
