Although the occupation of the Serra do Penha dates back to the prehistoric period, it was in the last three centuries that the relationship between man and the space where granite rocks predominate intensified. This place serves as a viewing point for the city of Guimarães and symbolizes the peaceful coexistence between religion, manifestations of the Christian faith and the resources bequeathed by Nature.
Penha is a fascinating space, where caves, boulders, canyons, fountains and large trees offer refreshing walks accompanied by vestiges of the Christian devotion of the men who transformed it.
