It can be done on foot or by bike. One way or another, you will be delighted with the route that opens the Ecopista do Tâmega between Amarante and Cabeceiras de Basto. It is a bike path that takes advantage of one of the most emblematic railway lines in Portugal, closed in 1990.
Be surprised with every kilometer that you can explore: through the forest landscape, through the mountain views, through the villages, through the vineyards. The beauty of the natural heritage prevails on a gentle route that is, most importantly, accessible to all. The Tâmega river follows almost its entire course very closely.
The Ecopista de la Línea del Tâmega is part of the European Network of Greenways, starting at km 12.467, in the city of Amarante, and ending at km 51.733, at the old Arco de Baúlhe station. (Cabeceiras de Basto).
