The Frog Stone and the Pine Bench are two settings that turn architecture into a subtle frame for the spectacular landscape that this place offers. This is the result of the intervention of the architect Carlos Seoane: a poetic projection in which sophistication and delicacy are noted in each element.
The architecture is based on respect for the monument and is born with the idea of preserving a natural landscape with cultural roots, proposing an aesthetic update in symbiosis with the environment as an expression of the Genius Loci. In Roman mythology, the Genius Loci was a protective spirit that guarded places and maintained the harmony of space.
In this way, the work does not alter, at least substantially, the existing landscape. Through certain integration mechanisms, the architecture renounces its role and adapts to the landscape.
“What do the noisy pines say?” This is the phrase that heads the views from O Banco do Piñeiro and the phrase that begins the Galician anthem, based on a poem by Eduardo Pondal. The noisy pines remind us that Galicia is the birthplace of Breogán, the legendary Galician king who bequeathed us our Celtic origins. At the top of Monte da Cidá you can see part of this legacy that is more than 2,500 years old… the Castro da Cidá.
La Pedra dá Ra and the Banco do Piñeiro form a unique heritage complex with great identity value for Galicia.
