The Sea Centre is a space formed by a Sea Environmental Interpretation and Documentation Centre that has been installed on the stern of the hospital ship Gil Eannes since 16 November 2014 (National Sea Day). It is equipped, among other services, with multimedia equipment, a mini-auditorium, the possibility of access to consultations, support areas for entrepreneurship and the nautical economy and various interactive audiovisual experiences.

In 2020, the Virtual Museum of Maritime Memory was inaugurated, where it will be possible to consult the available documentary collection in an interactive and dematerialised way, including books, magazines, monographs and periodical publications on the subject of the sea, while maintaining the possibility of consulting the available material and requesting some of the goods.
