The new church of Santa Mariña, located on Rúa Maior next to Praza do Mercado, was built at the expense of the will of Don Juan María López, and was designed by the architect from Santiago, Mr. Domínguez. Today, Plaza de Juan María López is the scene of various cultural events and the pilgrim’s mass is celebrated in the church.

The tower, topped with a high pyramidal spire, houses the public clock.

Inside, the images of Santa Mariña and San Xoán (patron saints of the town) stand out, works by Isidoro Brocos, the Crucified Christ, by Magariño, the tomb of Don Juan María López, the stained glass windows of San Matías and San Andrés, donated by Don Matías López and the deteriorated paintings of the four evangelists.

On the “south side” there is a “cruceiro” from the Compostela school, and on the wall there is a mural painting with a Jacobean theme, by the painter Veloso.

On the Travesía da Igrexa there is the Rectoral house (1778) with a votive inscription.
