The Museu da Oliveira e do Azeite is located in the old premises of the Mirandelense Mill. The old mill, almost a piece of industrial archaeology, although modest, shows the passage of time and history in the confines of the fully occupied plot, with a series of compartments and additions, materialized in different forms, such as wood, iron and concrete, which revolve around a central square stone pavilion.

The space is rich in architectural suggestions, both for the unexpected utilitarian and pragmatic solutions that have been introduced over time and, above all, for the light and the way of capturing it offered by the space between the loopholes where the sun shines on its southern elevation.

The Museum is made up of an entrance area, where all the logistics are concentrated, such as the reception of visitors, a terrace and cafeteria and a sales shop. In the central pavilion of the Antigua Almazara there is a replica of an olive oil mill, a module dedicated to the olive tree, where there is a video projection that introduces the theme of the fauna and flora associated with it.

There is a work room, which will be enlivened by the sound of work songs, photographs of the trade and transport of olives and ethnographic material. From this room you can go up to the first floor through a curious ascending path. There is a room divided into six “niches” that house collections of material related to the known uses of olive oil, gastronomy, the pharmaceutical industry, lighting, heating, cosmetics and the canning industry. It also has a 48-seat auditorium, which completes the exhibition route, with the possibility of watching films, holding debate sessions or conferences.
