Also called “Picot”, the Pelourinho de Barcelos dates from the late 15th century and early 16th century. Made of granite, it is formed by a robust base, a hexagonal shaft and a highly ornamented multifaceted finish known as a cage, in the late Gothic style.

It is one of the most emblematic national pillories for its artistic richness. We see it in front of the Iglesia Mayor, in a landscaped space that gives it the prominence it deserves. Note the hexagonal cage at the top.
