With origins in the 13th century, the Holy Week of Viveiro was established by the mendicant orders and nowadays different Brotherhoods and Confraternities keep this unique manifestation of religious fervor alive, notable for the artistic value of its imagery and processional floats.

It has been declared a Festival of International Tourist Interest.
