Felgueiras has a strong historical connection and cultural identity associated with wine. At least since Roman times, wine has been produced in this region, a production that intensified in the 12th century with the Benedictine monks of the Monastery of Santa Maria de Pombeiro, a landmark on the Romanesque Route, and which today constitutes an important economic activity for the municipality’s economy, producing excellent wines that are exported to dozens of markets. Felgueiras is the largest producer of Vinho Verde in the region, which is due above all to the associative dynamism, entrepreneurial spirit and work of the Felgueirenses. In Felgueiras, the land invites you to stroll and the greenery marks the landscape, adding value to the routes and the setting of other tourist attractions.
