The Ribeira Sacra is a wine-producing area that covers an extension of 2,500 hectares of vineyards, which represents 5.2% of the land dedicated to vines in Galicia. This territory comprises more than 20 municipalities located on the banks of the Miño and Sil rivers, in the southern part of the Province of Lugo and the north of Ourense.

In the Ribeira Sacra, all the native varieties of Galicia are cultivated, with the following being authorized:

Preferred red varieties: Mencía, Merenzao, Brancellao, Sousón, Tempranillo, and Caíño Tinto.

Authorized red varieties: Mouratón and Garnacha Tintorera.

Preferred white varieties: Albariño, Godello, Loureira, Treixadura, Torrontés, and Doña Blanca.
