Felgueiras is located in the north of Portugal, in the Porto district, in the subregion of Tâmega and Sousa, which currently comprises a total of 20 parishes and is home to the source of the Sousa River. Regarding built heritage, Felgueiras includes records of rock art, Bronze Age and Iron Age settlements, among which the Castro do Senhor dos Perdidos, the Castro de Sendim, and the Castro de Santa Mariña stand out. There are signs of Roman occupation in the Roman Villa of Sendim, the Ponte do Arco, and the Roman pavement. In terms of Romanesque architecture, the Monastery of Santa Maria de Pombeiro stands out, one of the ex-libris of the Romanesque Route, but also churches such as Santa Maria de Airães, São Vicente de Sousa, Salvador de Unhão, and S. Mamede de Vila Verde. Felgueiras is a prosperous municipality in terms of industry, where footwear plays a central role, but it also integrates sectors such as metalworking, textiles, among others. Gastronomically, the Pão de Ló de Margaride stands out, but here they also produce: green wine, kiwi, and asparagus. In terms of craftsmanship, the embroideries and the Sousa filet stand out. Also part of our heritage are the city’s patron saint festivals, whose patron is Saint Peter, and which feature the centenary flower parade.

The legends, products, and monuments today form the cultural identity of the Municipality, a heritage that belonged to the past, is present today, and aims to be a distinguishing mark in the future.
