Santiago, capital of Galicia and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is the destination of the Camino de Santiago. Pilgrims from all over the world walk the path and seek the Jubilee every Holy Year.
A holy city for a thousand years and a university city for more than 500, Santiago is today a vibrant and monumental city, made for strolling. It is a must to see the Cathedral, the Workshop Façade and the Portico of Glory by Master Mateo, climb to its roofs, visit the Apostle Santiago, see the censer in operation, the Holy Door in Quintana Square, the Collegiate Church of Sar or the City of Culture.
The Cathedral is the most important Romanesque artwork in Spain.
Its construction began in 1075, with a Latin cross plan and towers visible from afar. It is interesting to visit the Museum of the Galician People, the Galician Center of Contemporary Art, the Museum of Pilgrimages…
It has green spaces like the Alameda, where the two Marías are, and the Bonaval park. We cannot forget the City of Culture and its surroundings.
