The Feira Grande de S. Miguel is one of the oldest traditions of the municipality.

Founded in 1205, during the granting of the Foral Charter of Vila Nova, by King D. Sancho I, the Feira Grande is closely linked to the origins of the municipality, that is, to the predominant activity at the time: agriculture. In this sense, we highlight the S. Miguel market, which takes place in the Praza D. María II and brings together farmers, artisans and famous taverns, offering the most genuine and traditional offer of the municipality. Disguised, the traders bring with them the freshest vegetables, the tastiest eggs and the most tender chickens from their backyard, a true journey into the past, when everything was “homemade” and ecological. Along with the products of the farmers and artisans, there are cattle and horses.
