The Guimarães Allegro festival is the result of a cultural strategy with the clear objective of revitalising classical music, the name given to the main musical variety produced or rooted in the traditions of Western secular and liturgical music, and to spread its aesthetic opulence among the community, providing the city and the region with an event of a cosmopolitan and differentiated character.

The existing links between the community and the performing arts offer the project a unique opportunity to publicise and reinterpret the well-known Built Heritage, allowing it to break down the barriers and traditional formalism associated with this context.

The involvement of the municipality’s artistic associations in the construction of programming guidelines allows the exchange of artistic experiences and encourages multidisciplinary creation.
