The Great Pilgrimage in Honour of Nossa Senhora da Encarnação is perhaps the biggest annual event in Vila Mou, being recognised as one of the largest pilgrimages in the municipality of Viana do Castelo, always taking place on the weekend of Pentecost.

The Vila Mou ex-libris, the Festive Arch, imposing and decorated with flowers, is one of the main attractions of the pilgrimage. The traditional tray parade and the imposing procession also attract countless visitors to Vila Mou, who take the opportunity to venerate Nossa Senhora da Encarnação and also enjoy the beautiful music brilliantly performed by four top-class philharmonic bands. The monumental fireworks session traditionally takes place on the Sunday following the joyful farewell of the Bands.
