The Medieval Journeys of the Douro portray the passage of King D. Sancho I through Canelas and the donation he made to Bonamis and Acompaniado, two jesters from whom he commissioned a trick. The document proving this donation is the oldest known testimony of theatrical manifestations in the Middle Ages in Portugal. In this great medieval festival there are market traders, jugglers, dancers, jugglers, nobles and even victims of the plague in a historical recreation that includes great entertainment, games, theater, dance, music, as well as gastronomy and promotion of local products
