In the incomparable setting of the Buio mountains, one of the most ancient traditions of Galicia is celebrated annually: the rapa das bestas of Candaoso. During these days, the cattle that live in semi-freedom are brought down to the enclosure, where the cutting of the manes and tails of the horses, branding, and taming take place. The program also includes a horse livestock fair, hiking demonstrations, and horse and donkey races, all enlivened by a festival and tasting of chorizos and ham.
It is declared a Festival of Tourist Interest of Galicia.
