In the municipality of Ribadeo, the Cantabrian plain presents us with one of its greatest geological wonders: Augasantas beach, better known as As Catedrais. A natural space that has recently become a must-see for travellers arriving in the province of Lugo. Integrated into the Eo, Oscos and Terras de Burón Biosphere Reserve, As Catedrais is also part of the Natura 2000 Network and was declared a Natural Monument in 2005.

In this natural space, the waters of the Cantabrian Sea sculpted the slate and quartz cliffs, giving rise to fractures and formations of caves and maritime arches of great singularity that resemble the spires of a Gothic cathedral, a place of great beauty in constant change.

Praia das Catedrais, both for the provision of services and for the quality of its environmental parameters, was awarded the Q for Tourism Quality, the Blue Flag and the EMAS and ISO 14001 certifications.

Visits to this natural space are limited in high season, and it is necessary to obtain the corresponding access pass in advance. In addition, to make the most of your visit, it is recommended to do so at low tide to enter its caves and feel the grandeur of the place where the sea shaped its whims.
