Located where the first industrial building was built with the construction of Porto de Leixões, is the Casa de la Arquitectura, a national complex dedicated to the dissemination, archiving and enhancement of Architecture. Its collection includes, among others, projects and models by the winners of the three Pritzker Prizes awarded to Portuguese-speaking architects, Álvaro Siza Vieira, Eduardo Souto de Moura and Paulo Mendes da Rocha. The former building of the Real Compañía Vinícola, built between 1897 and 1901, was renovated by the Municipality of Matosinhos. It had been abandoned and in ruins for many decades, and was officially reopened as a centre for cultural activities in 2017. In addition to the Casa de la Arquitectura, the building also houses the Orquestra Jazz de Matosinhos, as well as commercial spaces.
