This old textile store transformed into an exhibition centre is a magnificent example of Modernism in Ourense.

In the 19th century, several traders settled in the city, and after thriving they erected buildings as a symbol of their power. One of them was the Simeón building, a warehouse and textile store that in 1999 was transformed into a cultural centre, housing temporary exhibitions, lectures, a library and the curious collection of miniature trains Fernández-Pacheco.

This Modernist building was built in the late 19th century by architect Serra y Pujol. Property of the Simeón García family, it has been a warehouse, a store and a also a home, distributed in its nearly 4,000 square metres. The sobriety of its architecture, with a magnificent stone masonry and a meticulous carpentry, fits perfectly with a restoration that respected the noble character of this building. On its portico we can observe symbols related to trade and industry.
