Facho da Senhora da Bonança is a 16th-century building, built in stone. It functioned as a lighthouse, helping many sailors escape the dangerous “Cavalos de Fão” that stalked any inattentive ship or one with an inexperienced pilot in these waters, until new dunes formed between its location and the coast, rendering it unusable. Next to it is the Chapel of Senhora da Bonança, where sailors came to ask for protection for fishing and sea voyages.
