The church of São Vicente de Sousa still preserves much of its construction programme from the Middle Ages, where we cannot fail to highlight the 12th-century arcosolium, the western door and the base of the bell tower, where we can still admire a beautiful doorway from that period.
The exterior inscriptions mark all its moments and experiences, from the Middle Ages to the Modern Age. The inscription on the construction of the arcosolium, the inscription commemorating the devotion characterise its construction and evolution in the Middle Ages, while the inscription on the south wall indicates the eventual sponsor of the renovations in the Modern Age.
The exterior austerity of the stone construction is interrupted by the beauty of the ornaments on the western door and its façade. Inside, it is the altarpieces and the painted coffered ceiling that are most impressive, due to the beauty and iconography they represent.
This church has been classified as a National Monument since 29 September 1977.
