It is a Baroque church.

The façade, with Mannerist elements, is the first Baroque building in Braga. Resembling an altarpiece, the harmonious façade, decorated with clearly Baroque elements, has been attributed to Fray Luís de S. José, the same person who designed the façade of the Church of the Monastery of Alcobaça. The façade is crowned by the image of the patron saint, Saint Vincent, hidden in a niche.

The façade is crowned by a papal cross that recalls the privileges and indulgences that Pope Clement VIII granted to this church around 1598, during the time of Archbishop Agostinho de Jesus. The great master builder of Braga, Manuel Fernandes da Silva, worked on this façade, which was not completed until 1717.

Inside, the highlights include the choir, attributed to Carlos Amarante, the organ, built by the master organ builder Francisco António Solha in 1769, and the tile panels, from 1873, produced by the Fábrica de Cerâmica das Devesas.

On the walls there are two large canvases by Carlos António Leoni illustrating the martyrdom of Saint Vincent.
