The Romanesque Church of Arões is a beautiful example of Romanesque architecture from the northwest of the peninsula, dating from the 17th century. XIII, although with several changes from the original design over the centuries.
Being the only National Monument in the municipality, it is identified as the “crown jewel” of the local heritage. This church is a small temple, with solid walls, robust, with little light.
On the austere doorway, the semicircular arch and the Agnus Dei stand out, and on the south side façade, in the tympanum of the door, an interesting inscription in Latin relating to the date of construction of the church. Inside, the triumphal arch that gives access to the main chapel, the altarpieces of the side altars of the nave and the coffered ceiling with religious motifs stand out.
