The Largo do Paço, located in the historic centre of Braga, is made up of a group of buildings that were the former residence of the Archbishops, known as Paço Episcopal Bracarense. This square currently houses the Aula Noble of the University of Minho, the Public Library of Braga and the Municipal Archive.
The Palace was the seat of the Republic of Braga, which was finally abolished in 1790 by the first Queen of Portugal. Although the square was consolidated in the first half of the 17th century, King Rodrigo gave it the general appearance it has today. The central fountain decorated with heraldic motifs stands out.
