It is a different kind of bookstore, where everyone is free to browse, touch and read books. To this relationship between customer and book, “Centésima Página” adds the story of an emblematic baroque-style building located on Avenida Central in Braga.
This building, classified as a Public Interest building since 1977, is an example of 18th-century civil architecture. It was built between 1759 and 1765 to serve as the residence of Tomé Rolão, a wealthy businessman from Braga dedicated to silk production. The design is attributed to the architect from Braga, André Soares.
The facade features the door and window frames of the two-storey building, which has housed the “Centésima Página” bookstore since 2005.
The building is part of the city’s baroque architecture route and many national and foreign tourists stop by Casa Rolão.
