Monte Crasto

At 194 meters high and considered the ex-libris of the City of Gondomar, it is an excellent viewpoint over Porto and its surroundings. Its stand-out monuments are the Chapel of Saint Isidore and the 16th century Crosses. (1757/1759).

Monte Crasto constitutes a natural fortress, fully deserving the Latin name of crasto (castle), as it is an elevated place, naturally surrounded by huge boulders on which the little chapel of Saint Isidore sits.

Some finds, such as, p.e., coins and pottery objects, attest to the presence of the ancient Roman Empire in this location.
