An area giant that moves slowly driven by the southwest winds without us noticing it. This is the largest mobile dune in northwest Spain with an approximate size of 1 km long, 250 meters wide and 15 meters high, which presides over the Natural Park of the Dune Complex of Corrubedo and Lagoas de Carregal and Vixán (one of the seven of Galicia, officially recognized in 1992).
The enormous natural and scenic value of this place of almost 1,000 hectares will make us fall in love with it at the first visit. It is an excellent example of a coastal bar complex, with a great variety of different habitats in a good state of conservation and with an impressive dune system that was formed more than 12,000 years ago.
We will be able to bathe in Atlantic waters along 5 km of sandy beaches (A Ladeira, Ferreira, A Lagoa, O Vilar and Anguieiro). Inland we will walk next to the dune bars that separate from the sea to two beautiful wetlands: the lake and marsh of Carregal (with salty water) and the lake of Vixán (with twelve water). The sun-drenched areas are also of great international ornithological importance due to the passage of birds that nest there. In the lake of Vixán there is a bird observatory.
