At the roundabout accessing the Bértoa industrial estate, you will find this 2007 work designed by the renowned Carballo sculptor and engraver Manuel Facal, who is internationally famous. Its dimensions and color stand out, especially on clear days, against the blue horizon. It is 13.50 meters high and weighs 3,200 kilos. It is an enormous red fish, with a steel tail, made almost entirely from metal waste. Facal’s creation represents an escalo, an elongated freshwater fish that inhabits the waters of the river that crosses our town, the Anllóns. The author donated his work to the Carballo town council, which funded the materials and labor required to build it. The sculpture, like the rest of Facal’s works in Carballo, was made in workshops in our town. It belongs to the same series as the work “O peixe”, located at the roundabout at the entrance to the shopping center.
