PADRÃO DO MAR is a window to the territory, a sculpture that integrates the landscape. Volker Schnüttgen has developed a creative process that is minimalist in its forms and exquisite in its details, which favours endogenous materials such as wood or stone. His works establish a relationship with nature, making it part of the image and challenging the viewer to rediscover, through art, the wonder of each context. PADRÃO DO MAR, made of granite from the region, is the result of an artistic residency that the artist carried out in Esposende and was inspired by the existing Megalithic Heritage, following the structure of the Menhir, a kind of milestone that would later find echo in the Portuguese patterns of the Discoveries and the diaspora, taking the sea as the protagonist and primary identity of the territory, throughout its history.
