Also called “Picota”, the Pillory of Barcelos dates back to the end of the 15th century and the beginning of the 16th century. Made of granite, it is made up of a robust base, a hexagonal shaft and a very ornate multi-faceted finish known as a cage, in the late Gothic style.
It is one of the most emblematic national pillories due to its artistic richness. We can see it in front of the Main Church, in a garden space that gives it the deserved prominence. Worth noting the hexagonal cage at the top.
