Lomba Beach

 

With a riverfront of approximately 37.5km, Gondomar has to offer the most beautiful beaches in the Douro area, such as Praia da Lomba (Lomba Beach), on the left bank of the river, and the sandbanks of Melres and Zebreiros, on the right bank.

The quality and temperature of its waters and the surveillance ensured throughout the bathing season, combined with landscapes of great natural beauty, make these places a heaven of tranquility and well-being, providing an excellent alternative to the hustle and bustle of coastal beaches.

Lomba beach, distinguished, once again, in 2024 by Quercus with the Gold Quality award, has an extensive sandy beach and a bathing support area consisting of a first aid station, toilets and bar.

The area surrounding the beach offers its users the best facilities: parking, boat dock and an extensive green area with plenty of tables and benches.

Tourist entertainment companies offer a nautical activities center. Some of the experiences available include kayaking, SUP, boat trips, tubing or wakeboarding.

The taxi-boat, a river transfer service from the Municipality of Gondomar, provides transport from the Melres marina; the crossing takes approximately 10 minutes and provides quicker access to the beach, departing from the right bank of the Douro River, making it, all-in-all, a very enjoyable boat trip.
