Quinta Dona Matilde is among the oldest properties in the Douro region. Formerly known as Enxodreiro, it is part of the first demarcation, ordered by the Marquês de Pombal in 1756, and was part of the properties capable of producing the so-called “factory wines”. The entire vineyard on the farm – a total of 28 hectares – has the letter A.

In addition to several vineyards – traditional old Douro vines, aged between 60 and 80 years, and other more recent ones, planted around 20 years ago -, Quinta Dona Matilde has a large area occupied by uncultivated land, with natural vegetation, which include the so-called mortories, and which constitute important natural habitats, with notable characteristics in terms of biodiversity. With a total of 93 hectares, the farm also has olive, lemon, orange and other fruit trees, as well as gardens, with roses and other typically Mediterranean vegetation.
