The Tower of Hercules is the oldest Roman lighthouse in the world and the only one still in service. Built at the end of the 1st century or the beginning of the 2nd century, during the Roman Empire, by an architect from Coimbra named Caio Sevio Lupo. Its light has always been a reference point for sailors. The current exterior cladding is from the 18th century, the work of Eustaquio Giannini. The Tower of Hercules is located on the northern coast of the Coruña peninsula, at an altitude of 50 meters. In its surroundings is the Sculpture Park of the Tower of Hercules. Since 2009, it has been part of the World Heritage list.
