Built between the first and third centuries A.D. during the Flavian urban renewal of the ancient Bracara Augusta, this monumental thermal complex is located on the upper platform of the Outeiro de Maximinos, in the highest area of the city of Braga, constituting the only building of public characteristics identified so far in the excavated perimeter of this important Roman city.

Although its original outline has not yet been fully excavated, the research carried out so far confirms that this building underwent some structural modifications from the time its construction began in the first century A.D. to the time when its use was abandoned in the fifth century A.D., at a time when the Roman Empire in the West was collapsing.
