In the rich and vast sweets of Viana do Castelo, this pie stands out, of conventual origin, much appreciated throughout the region and one of the most famous recipes in Portugal. The Viana pie is made with an unmistakable egg custard filling and traditionally sprinkled with sugar.

It is a traditional sweet made from egg cream, flour and sugar, nationally certified as being original from Viana do Castelo. In 2021, the Municipality guaranteed the certification of “Torta de Viana”, in a process that aimed to preserve and promote this sweet and the recipe for this traditional Viana product.
